The 1st International Çanakkale Ceramics Symposium is organised within the scope of online presentations, applied workshops, and exhibitions that address ceramic art through its intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary dimensions reflected in social life. The symposium will be held between July 18 and August 11, 2026, in collaboration with Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Çanakkale Ceramics Research, Development, and Application Centre (ÇASEM), Çanakkale Municipality, and Kaleseramik.

Ceramics, which places its original and pluralistic forms at the centre of the cultural memory of global history, is an important part of the artistic phenomenon because of the unique expressive possibilities it offers based on materials and production processes, in addition to craft and industrial products. These expressive possibilities transform ceramics into a multilayered field of production with aesthetic and conceptual dimensions.

Current approaches in ceramics within the fields of craft, art, and industry, as well as intra-and interdisciplinary topics in the fields of science, art, and design, will be discussed within the scope of the symposium. Through these discussions, it is aimed to develop new technical, aesthetic, and conceptual ideas and reveal different forms of production. Furthermore, by sharing this accumulated knowledge, it is intended to foster future-oriented creative collaborations in the city of Çanakkale, which is part of the European Route of Ceramics. Creating a sustainable art environment in which ceramics are at the forefront is one of the main goals of the symposium.

The multi-layered structure of ceramics, which holds a special place in Çanakkale's rich cultural fabric and connects the past with the future, will be addressed through theoretical, practical, and exhibition activities. In this context, artists, designers, craftspeople, educators, and researchers from all disciplines are invited to the 1st International Çanakkale Ceramics Symposium.
